Cindy Murphy worked in law enforcement for 31 years, starting her career in 1985 before joining the Madison Police Department in 1991. She began investigating computer related crimes in 1999 before being promoted to detective the following year in 2000. Since then, Cindy has become one of the foremost experts in the digital forensics field due to her many years of experience, thirst for new and challenging problems to solve, and above all, the passion she has for her work every day.
She has attended Basic Data Recovery and Analysis and Advanced Data Recovery and Analysis through the National White Collar Crime Center and Access Data’s Forensic Toolkit Boot Camp, Internet Forensics, and Windows Forensics courses. Additionally, she has attended Basic, Intermediate and Expert Series EnCase courses, has been a certified EnCase Computer Forensic Examiner since May of 2003. Cindy Murphy also holds a Certified Computer Forensics Technician Advanced certification, and formerly held a Digital Forensic Certified Practitioner Founder’s certification. She has participated in numerous other computer forensics, computer and Internet crime related trainings, including training sponsored by the University of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigations, the FBI, and the United States Secret Service and has participated in cross-training with computer forensic examiners from the FBI, Secret Service, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and An Garda Siochana, the police force of Ireland.
Cindy is also a certified forensic examiner and obtained her M.Sc. in Forensic Computing and Cyber Crime Investigation through University College, Dublin in 2011. Her dissertation is titled “A Multidisciplinary Approach to Child Age Estimation.” With numerous other accomplishments in her years as a digital forensics examiner, Cindy Murphy is clearly an industry leader and brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to the team at Gillware.
As President of Gillware Digital Forensics, Cindy oversees the entire operation. From the procedures and quality assurance measures employed in the processing of every case, to her work with our engineering team on advanced digital forensics tools and techniques, Cindy ensures that Gillware remains at the forefront of the digital forensics industry.
