Enter the Gillware photo contest
Every month Gillware gives away a small prize to the best customer-submitted recovered photo with description. This is our way of
showing how much we value and enjoy
helping our customers retrieve their precious data. We know that each and every crashed drive
is a disaster and we take personal pride in helping you get it back.
If Gillware has recovered any photos that are particularly meaningful to you, send us an email with a
one-paragraph explanation as to why the photo is important to you and attach the photo. Just send the email to
with the subject "Photo Contest" if you'd like to enter! So get that favorite baby picture, pet picture, wedding photo out - you could be the next winner!
We have several external hard drives that we use to backup our data. So when one of them crashed, I was not very concerned, thinking I still had the original data. It wasn't until 3 days later that I realized that drive contained all of my digital pictures, from June 2002 to present (almost 10,000 images). Panic!!! I did have some of them backed up, but of course, I had not kept up with the backups.
We had already thrown out the drive, but I was able to dig the drive out of the garbage - thanks goodness it was before garbage day! I took it to a local computer shop, but they were unable to do anything with it. They said they would have to send it out for data recovery and estimated a $2000-$4000 cost. Internet searches confirmed I was looking at a hefty price tag.
Disheartened, I brought it home, trying to decide what to do next. It wasn't until several weeks later that I sat down and started searching again and found Gillware. I decided to take the risk and boy am I glad I did. You were able to recover everything on my drive. So many holidays and special events! The picture I am submitting is from Halloween 2005. My son decided he wanted to be Obi Wan, and then my daughter decided to be Princess Leia. I wasn't sure how I could turn my blonde daughter into Princess Leia, but some hair extensions and spray-on color did the trick.
Thank you Gillware!
