I'm the CTO at National Public Radio and two months ago my laptop suffered a sudden catastrophic failure. Our IT helpdesk team worked diligently for a week to restore the files and finally gave up, saying "Sorry, there's nothing there we can retrieve." I had lost some real treasures, mainly personal photos that I hadn't backed up from a few months earlier. I found Gillware on the web, liked what I read about pricing and risks, and decided to make one last effort to recover my precious manuscript I'd been working on in the summer, plus scores of photos that would otherwise have been gone forever. This shot is my favorite. I was on Hooper's Island in the Chesapeake Bay, driving back from the local general store when I was startled to spot this Heron posing as the sun glanced off the water, with Barren Island in the background, and the western shore of the Bay in the distance.
I rolled down the passenger window, came to a slow stop and shot this from the driver's seat, through the window at the Heron, roughly some 150 feet away. Gillware not only saved the files I told them about as a priority - but indeed everything on my laptop. It came perfectly transferred onto six DVD's and I'm an enthusiastic evangelist for such great work.
